Salvatore Mancuso, the former leader of the Paramilitary groups, was asked in extradition by a judge of Bogotá. He is accused of kidnapping the sister of Nicolás Rodríguez Bautista and his brother-in-law. Bautista, who is also known as Gabino, is a leader of the guerrilla group ELN.
Mancuso and many other Paramilitary leaders, were extradited to US in May 2008 accused of drug traffic.
A judge in Colombia sentenced Mancuso to 27 years and 8 months in prison as responsible of kidnapping and murder in April 1997. A group of men, belonging to the Paramilitary groups, came to the house of Hilda Rodríguez and Libardo Acevedo in the city of Bucaramanga, saying that they were agents of the Administrative Department of Security of Colombia, DAS. After, Hilda Rodríguez and Libardo Acevedo were murdered by the Paramilitaries.
