Manizales, a city of the Paisa region, at the feet of the Nevado del Ruiz mountain, is the seat of the 53th Feria de Manizales, another colorful and traditional feast to start the year in Colombia. The region is just beautiful, surrounded by the coffee plantations of the Eje Cafetero. Manizales is equidistant from the three biggest urban centers of Colombia: Bogotá, Medellín and Cali. About 30 – 45 minutes by plain from any of their airports. The altitude on the sea level is 2,160 meters and the average temperature is 18°C in a city of a beautiful colonial architecture framed by the Andes mountains.
The Fair of Manizales is also the spot of the biggest Colombian bullfighting festival with the visit of the best toreros from Spain, Mexico and other Spanish countries that keep such tradition.
Last Saturday started the program of the Fair with horse parades showing the proud of the Paisa origin of the city that was founded in 1848 by families from the south of what is today the State of Antioquia.
The Santander Avenue and the Alfonso López Plaza become the center of the main celebrations with traditional music and dances. Foreign and national visitors appreciate the Fair and profit the opportunity to know the famous coffee plantations that produce the best coffee of the world.
