The Feria de Cali began! Between December 25 and 31 the World Capital of Salsa welcomes visitors to one of the most important Colombian festivities. Since 1957 was born the also called Feria de la Caña (Cane Fair), Rumba Fair or Salsa Fair in one of the main Colombian urban centers.
Music concerts with international guest, corridas de toros (bulls), parades and dance competitions are at the center of the largest city´s party. The horse parades and beauty competitions attract visitors from other Colombian cities and foreigners to Cali, although this year will not be a Miss Feria de Cali, according to the 2009 program.
The 51rst Feria de Cali will have more parades and the Salsódromo, a kind of Salsa parade with more than thousand Salsa dancers. It is said that in Cali there are more than 25 schools of Salsa, without mention the numberless unofficial Salsa places in the World Capital of this dance modality. The Salsa Via will cross the Roosevelt Avenue to the Pasqual Guerrero Stadium. If you come to the Fair, please do not forget your best shoeses to dance.
Special guests will fill of music the warm Calean nights: Van Van of Cuba, Grupo Niche of Cali, Guayacán Orquesta, the Gran Banda Caleña plus the several dancers at the level of the best shows of the planet. Security has been enforced by the authorities in the city and most of the shows are free entrance.
