May 2008 presented an increase in the Colombian exportation of 25.7%, said in its report the National Administrative Department of Statistics of Colombia (DANE). It means that between January and May 2008 the Colombian exportation rose in about USD 15,401.4 million to become 36.3% more than 2007 at the same period. Traditional export rose in 49.7% and not traditional exportation in 23.6%.
The biggest contribution to these numbers came from products sold to United States with an increase in 47.9%. The Colombian states that originated more export activities were Antioquia with 23% with the emphasis in non traditional exports, while the capital city of Bogotá contributed with 17.7%, the State of Cundinamarca with 14.2%, the State of Valle del Cauca with 14% and the rest of the states with 31.1%.
