Colombia sees more support for trade in US

NEW YORK (Daily Times): Support for a trade deal with Colombia is growing among Democrats, who control the U.S. Congress, said President Alvaro Uribe, who stressed the importance of the pact for the fight against illegal drugs.

Uribe, in New York for a meeting of the U.N. General Assembly, said on Thursday that if Washington approved pending trade deals with Panama and Peru without approving a Colombian pact, it would place his country at a disadvantage.

“I don’t know which would be worse, to not pass it at all or to have a long delay in passing it,” Uribe told Reuters. >>Continues here
